Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and develop new menu items, ensuring a perfect balance of taste, presentation, and nutritional value.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of various dishes, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality standards.
  • Demonstrate advanced cooking techniques and culinary skills to inspire and mentor other kitchen staff.
  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including food production, scheduling, inventory management, and ordering supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, following local health department regulations and best practices.
  • Monitor kitchen equipment, coordinating repairs and maintenance as necessary to maintain efficiency and safety.
  • Provide guidance and support to the kitchen team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
  • Conduct training sessions for new kitchen staff and ongoing skill development for existing team members.
  • Assist in evaluating employee performance, addressing issues, and implementing corrective action when necessary.
  • Regularly inspect food presentation, taste, and portion sizes to ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to conduct regular menu tastings to assess and improve menu items.
  • Assist in menu planning and costing, considering ingredient availability, seasonality, and profitability.
  • Minimize food wastage through effective inventory management and portion control.
  • Assist in negotiating with suppliers to secure the best prices for high-quality ingredients.
  • Safety and Hygiene:
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety and hygiene protocols, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Train and enforce proper handling of equipment and chemicals to prevent accidents and injuries.
Requirements:

You have:
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent culinary role, demonstrating expertise in various cuisines and cooking techniques.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse kitchen team.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and kitchen operations.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Creativity and innovation in culinary approaches, menu planning, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members, management, and guests.
  • Quality and cost control. HACCP basic knowledge
