Job Description


  • Sous chef is required to have particular skills and knowledge that will enable them performs their duties effectively and efficiently.
  • Approving all food that is served out of the kitchen
  • Maintaining control of the kitchen at all times to the chefs below him
  • Charged with maximizing the productivity of the kitchen crew
  • Maintaining high personal hygiene in addition to establishing hygienic work Commands the respect of the kitchen crew and is expected to set an example
  • practices and safety standards in the kitchen surroundings
  • be the back support for the kitchen members as a guidance and trainer
Leads kitchen team in chef's absence Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours Hires and trains new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards Works with head chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed Assists executive chef with menu creation Coordinates with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing Attitude and behaviour Should be able to be aligned with our values (Attitude, Integrity, Passion, Ownership, Respect, Teamwork, Recognition, and Innovation) Passion for Cooking, Creative and hands on working style Attention to details focused High energy driven Out-going personality Positive to changes Good communication skills Organized and responsible when leading his section Able to understand guests needs when working on buffets or show kitchens Professional in conduct Team player willing to help others Well groomed, Honest, Polite, Helpful attitude in relation with other departments Consistent in work and behaviour Knowledge and understanding of culinary organization and world food products The desire to uphold the kazbar restaurant of "One size fits One", by treating each individual guest and their requests in a timely, professional and friendly manner. Good management and organizations skills (B) Health And Saftey Adheres to all health, sanitation and food safety rules and regulations Reports all potential and real hazards immediately Fully understands the hotel’s fire, emergency, and bomb procedures Works in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others Keeps the highest standards of personal hygiene, dress, appropriate uniform, appearance, and conduct (C) MISCELLANEOUS Attends meetings and training required by the Sous Chef Accepts flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to the food production function Maintains own working area, materials and company property clean, tidy and in good shape Helps Steward when needed for the effective running of the restaurant Continuously seeks to endeavour the knowledge of own job function Is well updated on, and possesses solid knowledge of the following:
  • Restaurant fire and emergency procedures
  • Restaurant corporate marketing and promotional programs
  • Union agreements
(D) QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Culinary College level or Hotel school at least 2 years. Proficient in spoken and written English If newly promoted an experience of 6-8 years in restaurant is required with the same promotion criteria as above must be in kitchen alone Willing to work any shift (day, evening, split, and on weekends) Able to cope with physical duties Very dynamic at work Willing to grow his/her career in the culinary team within the kazbar restaurant Apply for A unique opportunity to be a part of this exciting new brand!
