Job Description


What you will be working on:PUB has an in-house team developing and operating the advanced National Coastal-Inland Flood model. The model comprises a coastal and an inland model to carry out flood risk assessment. PUB is building up capability and capacity in model simulation work to better understand impacts due to evolving climate projections and to support emergency response. Thus, we are looking for passionate individuals to join this dynamic team. You would also have the opportunity to oversee the Coastal Protection and Flood Management Research Programme (CFRP) under the Research Programme Office and involve in the modelling of site-specific studies. Your key responsibilities may include: xe2x80xa2 Set-up, calibrate, validate, and refine coastal and/or inland flood models xe2x80xa2 Carry out simulations and evaluate model results xe2x80xa2 Process model data output and develop visualisation to communicate results xe2x80xa2 Acquire and process input data for models including but not limited to bathymetry, land use, flows, water levels, tides, rainfall xe2x80xa2 Conduct quality control and analysis of measured and modelled data xe2x80xa2 Conduct statistical and geospatial analyses of model inputs and outputs xe2x80xa2 Test and transition models to an operational environment and validate the performance in accordance with relevant guidelines xe2x80xa2 Operate and maintain models in an operational environment xe2x80xa2 Provide technical support on modelling for site-specific studies xe2x80xa2 Develop knowledge and technologies related to (a) coastal science and (b) the monitoring, prediction and digitalisation of Coastal Environment. This would be through the evaluation and management of R&D projects under the CFRP.What we are looking for:

  • Degree in Engineering (preference in Civil and Environmental Engineering) and/or Master's Degree in Coastal Engineering, Hydro-informatics or a closely related discipline, with at least 5 years of recent, relevant experience in coastal hydrodynamic, urban hydrology and hydraulics modelling xe2x80xa2 Familiar with various modelling and GIS software xe2x80xa2 Possess good programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, Python) xe2x80xa2 Knowledge of spatial and temporal data processing and analysis xe2x80xa2 Experience with transitioning hydrodynamic models into operational application xe2x80xa2 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail xe2x80xa2 Good problem-solving skills xe2x80xa2 Work well independently and a resourceful team player Work Location Environment Building Successful applicants will be contacted within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.
