JOB SUMMARY

The Strategic Procurement Manager, APAC plays a critical role in Takeda's success by:

  • Planning and leading Category initiatives and developing and implementing regional category strategies for market-facing spend categories as part of the wider Category Strategy.
  • Leading proactive category projects to support the delivery of regional procurement targets, spanning sourcing projects, demand management and process re-engineering to support the delivery of regional procurement targets, as well as supporting region-specific supplier performance and innovation activities.
  • Serving as the primary business partner (SPOC) for the LOCs, ensuring GREFP (Global Real Estate, Facilities and Procurement) activities at the local level are aligned with Region and Category team planning.
  • Developing and implementing local strategies in those categories not supported by Global / Regional team.
  • Ensuring that high-quality end-user service delivery is achieved by understanding local needs and calling on the appropriate resources within GREFP team to support this. They will be a critical on-site liaison to link Category teams, TBS, Real Estate, Facilities and Security teams and the LOCs to ensure successful implementations.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Develop and implement category strategies for areas of accountability.
  • Provide regional input to global Category strategies.
  • Accountable for the delivery of targets in the LOCs (savings, DPO, compliance, etc).
  • Develop a pipeline of Category and LOC initiatives and opportunities to meet targets.
  • Monitor progress of GREFP activities in the LOCs to provide regular updates to business partners / stakeholders.
  • Work with TBS to ensure end-user requirements are translated into efficient sourcing activities.
  • Collaborate with CoE to support a robust approach to SP&I , systems and tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement while ensuring compliance, and improve efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Establish strong relationships with key business partners and be the single point of contact for senior stakeholders in the LOCs while working closely with Category Managers, CoEs and TBS.
  • Understand the challenges of the organization and awareness of Takeda's future direction and business challenges to successfully adapting the appropriate strategies, structure and approach to cost-effectively support evolving needs.
  • Create a culture of compliance internally and externally where everyone abides by Takeda's Global Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct.
  • Manage project progress and adapt work as required
  • Organisational project management (roadmap/governance/actions/risks/decisions/management reporting)
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certifications
  • Degree level education. Business-related degree or post graduate business-related qualification is preferred.
  • Professional Purchasing (e.g. CIPS, CPSM) or Finance-related licenses or certifications would be considered advantageous.
Experience
  • 8+ years of Indirect Procurement experience. Experience supporting logistics and distribution activities is highly advantageous.
  • 10+ years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry, other highly regulated industries is highly advantageous.
  • In depth knowledge of strategic sourcing, negotiating, contracting, strategic supplier management, supply chain and procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple categories across multiple markets, with expertise in Category Management principles and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of some / all of the major indirect spend categories and potential cost levers or market fundamentals.
  • Implementation of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program with strategic suppliers.
  • Proven capability in leveraging local category volume with regional / global contracts.
  • Proven experience delivering innovative solutions that address business stakeholders' needs.
  • Fluency in English. Additional Korean language skills are a plus.
