Summary

First full level of specialization; applies expertise in more than one area of specialization. May influence others outside of team to ensure goals are met and resolves conflicts in an effective manner. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the sites/major function\'s operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Receives guidance primarily on unique, unusual, or controversial problems or questions. May lead a work group or project team consisting of one or more support staff and/or tech/professional staff with some coaching from own supervisor, or may provide advice and guidance in area of specialty. Seeks out new avenues for building internal and external relationships; maintains contacts with existing relationships.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Acts as the primary contact for matters related to inventory
  • Works with Site Business Unit/Customer Focus Team/Program Manager/Planning and SCM staff to implement and drive strategies that will meet sites objectives for material availability while reducing inventory for improved cash flow, balancing inventory results with financial records.
  • Recommends and leads cross-functional teams to drive implementation and maintenance of flexibility/lead time reduction programs, such as Safety Stock, SMI, Kanban and other inventory initiatives.
  • Participates in setting the global inventory targets and coordinates solutions to help achieve these targets.
  • Performs deep dive analysis on historical issues and recommends/implements solutions on chronic suppliers/components
  • Develops tactical and long-term initiatives covering process improvements, action plans, training and education, deployment and effective maintenance of inventory flexibility initiatives.
  • Analyses material plans and provides direction and guidance to site purchasing teams and suppliers on maintenance of flexibility/lead time reduction programs.
  • Drive Site Customer Focus Team/Program Manager for customer inventory liability assurances to reduce Celestica\'s exposures and support closure of customer claims
  • Assists Commodity Managers with negotiations of new and revised flexibility/lead time reduction contracts, minimizing liabilities to Celestica.
  • Monitors, reports and ensures cross-functional teams adhere to inventory and lead time reduction programs/initiatives.
  • Develops reporting package/ presentation for executive review and participates in strategic development sessions with senior SCM Management.
  • Controls and monitors surplus inventory, assists in implementing action plans.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • Broad knowledge of the Semiconductor front end business environment and Capital Equipment customers\' business
  • Strong knowledge of global inventory management, material requirements planning and experienced in flexibility/lead time reduction initiatives in a high mix low volume environment.
  • Deep understanding of inventory to free cash flow & return on invested capital
  • Possess finance acumen and savvy with numbers to influence cross-functional teams using facts and data
  • Knowledge of IT tools and systems - adaptable to new tools and technology.
  • Sound project management skills.
  • Good analytical and statistical skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of complex process/system problems
  • Ability to independently handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, is adaptable to change and possesses the tenacity to institute structure and good practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers of all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional overnight travel is required.
Typical Experience
  • Six to eight years of relevant experience.
Typical Education
  • Bachelor\'s degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experiency.
