A new opportunity has arisen for a skilled Tax Lead, APAC like you, to oversee and bring expertise to our team. The APAC Tax Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing all tax-related matters for Rolls-Royce Solutions Asia (Singapore) operating in the Asian region. The role involves providing direction and expert guidance, compliance oversight for tax planning, reporting, and ensuring compliance across various Asian countries. The APAC Tax Lead will collaborate closely with regional and global tax teams and external tax advisors to ensure tax governance to align with business objectives while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems is headquartered in Friedrichshafen in southern Germany and employs around 9,000 people. The product portfolio includes mtu-brand high-speed engines and propulsion systems for ships, power generation, heavy land, rail and defence vehicles and for the oil and gas industry as well as diesel and gas systems and battery containers for mission critical, standby and continuous power, combined generation of heat and power, and microgrids.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for all tax accounting and tax reporting matters such as making adequate tax provision for quarterly, Hard-Close and Year-End for local and HQ tax reporting requirements.

Prepare and submit Corporate Income Tax Return to IRAS, including ascertaining, extracting and collating information and data required. Verification of Notices of Assessment issued by IRAS and communicate adequately with finance colleague to ensure sufficient funds are maintained in accounts for timely payment to IRAS.

Oversee the local Transfer Pricing (TP) documentation and ensure the Company maintains adequate contemporaneous TP document in accordance with the IRAS\xe2\x80\x99s requirements.

Handle tax queries raised by the IRAS. This includes ascertaining, extracting and collating information and formulate draft replies to external tax agents for review, comments, and fee quotations.

Point of contact with external tax agent. Discuss and negotiate tax compliance / advisory fee quotes for tax services in accordance with the tax services required by the Company.

Contact point of Business Units (BUs) on Inbound and Outbound withholding taxes (WHT), international tax implication (Eg. Permanent establishment), Value added tax (VAT) and Good & Services Tax (GST) matters. Provide comprehensive, practical, and commercially viable tax advice to ensure that the Company is overall in tax compliance.

Lead the Assisted Compliance Assurance Program (ACAP) and Post-ACAP Review on a periodical basis to ensure existing internal controls for GST framework remains robust, valid and applicable at all times in accordance with the changes in GST legislations and overall operational framework from time to time.

Renew operational GST tax incentive status, i.e. Major Exporter Schemes (MES) on a periodical basis.

Keep abreast of tax regulations changes with the objective to assess potential tax impact to BUs so that advice can be conveyed adequately and timely to BUs and management to mitigate the tax exposure.

Provide regular internal training to employees on areas of WHT, Permanent Establishment, VAT and GST to elevate overall BUs awareness.

Provide ad-hoc tax advice to key management on organizational restructuring and streamlining operations perspective or any other projects assign from time to time to assess tax implications and exposure. These include evaluating and analyzing tax effect and implications of international business initiatives, contemplated business proposal & transactions and tax planning opportunities.

Oversee and review the computation and filing of overseas tax returns (Eg. in India, USA, Germany, Korea). This includes maintaining the appropriate TP Report (where applicable) in respect of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s income derived overseas

Partner, collaborate and guide regional tax colleagues in Japan, Indonesia and India to act as the conduit between the region and HO.

Analyze the tax impact of business transactions, investments, and acquisitions in Singapore and the broader APAC region. Provide guidance on tax-efficient structures and strategies for new ventures and expansions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Degree or Diploma in Tax, Accountancy or an equivalent professional qualification

Minimum 6 years of commercial experience in taxation at a multinational corporation

Hands on experience with dealing with indirect taxes is a must, while knowledge in Transfer Pricing and European VAT is an added advantage

Experience with tax audits, tax objections and tax appeal processes

Proficiency in working with SAP ECC6, MS Applications and other accounting software

Team player with the ability to work as an individual contributor as well as partnering with colleagues across functions, cultures and from all levels within the Group

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build robust relations with various stakeholders

Be meticulous, structured, detail oriented and have a flexible approach

Demonstrate initiative and a constant process improvement mindset

Strategic thinking with the ability to align tax objectives with broader business goals
