Job Title: Trainer and Editorial Development Advisor, Researcher Training Solutions
Location: Based in Singapore, Tokyo, or Shanghai, with travel throughout Asia

Short Summary of the Division
The Researcher Solutions team in Springer Nature aims to better serve the needs of research organizations and scientists, helping researchers and institutions communicate their research, build their skills, reputations and careers to advance discovery.

Nature Research Academies training was developed by Nature Portfolio in response to the need for more professional training for researchers. We deliver virtual and in-person training courses globally to researchers.

Purpose of the Role
The Trainer and Editorial Development Advisor will be based in either the Singapore, Tokyo, or Shanghai office, but will travel when necessary throughout Asia to conduct in-person workshops. In addition to in-person workshops, they will be expected to deliver virtual workshops via webinar from their home office. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in delivering the training content to researchers on a variety of subjects including academic writing, navigating peer review, publication strategies, science communication, journal management & development, and clinical research methodology.

The role will also involve supporting the Lead Trainer & Senior Editorial Development Manager (based in Tokyo) with the development of new training materials for the Academies and being involved in evolving the product to meet new opportunities. They may also be asked to travel outside of Asia to deliver workshops when necessary.

Responsibilities

Key tasks include but are not limited to:
Learn and be able to speak confidently about the editorial culture and standards of Nature Portfolio
Deliver high-quality training for authors, peer reviewers, and editors (predominantly in Asia but may travel to other regions as needed):
Schedule when the workshops can take place based on a range of, sometimes competing, criteria;
Work with the Senior Editorial Development Manager to create the agendas, slides, and training collateral for each event based on the needs of the clients and in collaboration with the client and business development colleagues, as necessary;
Ensure a high-quality service is provided in line with client needs;
Manage the P&Ls for each training event;
Ensure the training is kept up to date, suited to the needs of different audiences and that the quality is maintained;
Generate activity and participant satisfaction reports as necessary for client and/or internal use
Support meeting or exceeding the goals of the service as laid out in the company forecast
Support the Senior Editorial Development Manager in developing the Nature Research Academies product
Any other reasonable task

Experience:
At least one of the following

2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of delivering training or teaching
2 years\xe2\x80\x99 post-doctoral experience as a researcher in a university
3 publications in scientific journals
2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working for a publisher

Skills/Knowledge:
Fluency in English
A strong written and oral communicator, able to communicate ideas clearly and effectively to researchers and clients at various levels of seniority, as well as colleagues
Proven project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines

Desirable:
An understanding of pedagogical techniques
An understanding of the publishing industry and the needs of authors

Qualifications

Essential: PhD in a scientific discipline
Desirable: PhD in natural sciences
