Role Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Assist Head, Custody and Clearing, in planning and implementing automation of processes to improve efficiency and reduce redundancy and error rates.
  • Actively engage with technology team to use technology as a strategic enabler from an operations and business perspective.
  • Successfully implement best practices into own team and in the Hub.
  • Continuously re-engineer processes in response to market changes or customer feedback / requirements.
Business
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of service to customers in settlements, retain existing business relationships, attract new customers, thereby contributing towards increased revenue. This involves collaboration with other departments within SCB and GBS on timely settlement and report delivery.
  • Ensure customer’s requirements are catered to within SCB’s policies and guidelines, for existing and new businesses.
Processes
  • Manage and avoid risks to clients, Bank / Group by ensuring prompt and accurate reporting to clients / management, timely rectification and / or monitoring of any discrepancies including shares rejections.
  • Manage and collaborate with the GBS team in terms of settlement / processes and issues. Provide guidance in the resolution of all settlement issues and collaborate with other stakeholders where necessary.
  • Ensure all DOIs in country and in GBS are up to date.
  • Perform processing of transactions that cannot be handed over to GBS. Escalate any issues detected in the course one’s duties.

  • Serve as back-up for colleagues in the SCB SG settlement team, and perform their functions where required.
  • Work on Enhancements
    • Identify processes that have defects / can be streamlined and raise enhancement requests. Raise necessary requests.
    • Participation in Line-Up-Work discussions.
    • Contribute to development of Business Requirement Documents.
    • Contribute to development of Final Specifications Document.
    • Participate in UAT / delegate UAT where necessary.
  • Collaborate with Agents
    • To resolve any settlement issues / queries.
    • To resolve any market-related queries from the client.
    • To resolve any new market requirements.
  • Collaborate with Client Solutions team on resolution of queries / issues.
  • Work with our internal and client-facing partners on implementation of new initiatives / services / products / deals. Participate in internal discussions, RFPs, implementation discussions, and recommend any new processes where necessary. Ensure that these processes are understood and implemented correctly by GBS.
People and Talent
  • Day-to-day management of the GBS team involved in timely and accurate delivery of services.
  • Optimize utilization of available resources to meet SLA requirements and able to quickly garner additional resources or redirect resources appropriately.
Risk Management
  • Identify risks in the current process and future processes. Propose / implement any mitigation or escalate risks where necessary, for resolution and management.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies, statutory regulations, laws and procedures.
Governance
  • Manage GBS settlement teams to ensure smooth settlement team processing and query handling.
  • Collaborate with GBS to fine-tune processes where necessary.

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Experience in settlements in International / Global Custody
  • Experience of general Custody Operations
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Degree in Banking, Finance or related qualifications

Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • Knowledge and experience of settlement in the International Custody.
  • Knowledge and experience of general Custody Operations.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong Team player - effectively collaborates with others both locally and globally.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Analytical Thinking.
