The Role Reporting to the Director of Alternative Reinsurance Solutions, the ARS Business Manager will be assisting in developing ARS propositions for assigned market(s) and developing client network The Role Reporting to the Director of Alternative Reinsurance Solutions, the ARS Business Manager will be assisting in developing ARS propositions for assigned market(s) and developing client network that suits ARS market. The role is key in extending ARS reach to new markets across Asia that have shown great potential. The role is based in Singapore but is expected to spend 20% to 30% of their time in the assigned market and some flexibility of working hours is required due to the interaction of this role with individuals based in Europe or North America. Description 1. (40%) Developing propositions for Japan Deepen understanding of regulatory environment for the assigned market and get familiar with ARS transaction types that exist in the assigned market, and keep abreast of changes in regulatory, capital, and financial reporting regimes Deepen understanding of competition landscape for various ARS segment in the assigned market Understand well various reinsurance structures that can be deployed for ARS purposes across Asia markets Understand well clients' financial needs for ARS type of transactions and develop customized propositions to effectively address such needs 2. (40%) Developing ARS client network and sourcing opportunities together with Market BDMs Meet with clients, brokers/partners to discover Japanese insurers' financial needs and identity possible reinsurance transactions to meet these challenges Facilitate the delivery of the proposition to clients including liaison with internal stakeholders as well as all relevant external parties Promote and market these solutions to selected clients to generate transaction pipeline Support clients with regards to wider regulatory clarifications which may be required relevant to attempted transactions Develop working knowledge of clients' requirements, internal policies and processes, and market trends Participate in industry events to grow local market network and promote PL Re as a reputable reinsurance partner 3. (20%) Support other ARS initiatives Join efforts with ARS teammates to form a tactical plan for 2023 which aims to achieve committed new business volume and produce a strategy update to Exco, follow through existing pipelines, and raise market awareness of PL Re ARS in general Be ready to support other markets when priority opportunities emerge Support or involve in ad-hoc projects Qualifications & Experience BS/BA in Business, Actuarial Science or related degree with at least 5 years of insurance, reinsurance or banking experience Deep Asia (re)insurance market knowledge, preferably with Alternative Reinsurance Solutions/ coinsurance experience Sound understanding of (re)insurance regulations such as Solvency II and/or other risk-based capital framework and their implications on financial reporting Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex matters clearly and concisely to both internal and external stakeholders across different levels Demonstrate good flexibility and resourcefulness in terms of securing supports from stakeholders with competing priorities Possess good negotiation and persuasion skills Results oriented and able to work under pressure Actuarial qualification (FIAJ/FIA/FSA/FIAA), CPA, or CFA holders are preferred Proficiency in Japanese and English, both written and verbal, is highly preferred
