Job Description

Coordinate, facilitate and lead the strategic development, tactical implementation and financial planning components of all Sales and Marketing related topics of the Brand Strategy and manage customer and other commercial activities including leading and coaching Sales Force to maximize brand sales and profitability, placing the patient at the center of any efforts and operating within the AbbVie business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

Major Responsibilities:

Drive Brand Excellence

  • Set future direction for existing and new products and business opportunities to seize maximum business results. Driving preparation of the 3-5-year strategic plans and presenting to senior management. Developing short and long-term brand strategies and managing P&Ls.
  • Effectively manage and execute all marketing and sales related brand activities as per Brand Plan, such as development and implementation of commercial Brand strategy and tactical Brand activities execution and deliver sales performance to maximize or exceed brand sales and margin within expense budgets.
  • Seeking new growth opportunities through collaborations with relevant business partners.
  • Creating and implementing pricing strategies in collaboration with Market Access.
  • Guiding development of programs, materials, and tactics to achieve brand objectives.
Drive Team Performance
  • Professionally manage and build cross functional cooperation between key stakeholders and build effective multidisciplinary In Field Teams. Ensure timely and qualitative market intelligence information flow to Brand Teams and brand strategy/tactical communication from Brand Teams to In-Field Teams to optimize brand strategy and its execution.
  • Providing sales and marketing team with the leadership and direction needed to achieve sales, margin, and market share goals. Optimize resource utilization by leading, developing, and coaching Sales Team performance including setting sales targets and incentive schemes, managing Sales Force Management Systems and Key Performance Indicators to continuously improve sales performance. Ensure regular updates on Sales Team skills in terms of medical, technical, and special in-field knowledge areas.
  • Developing, challenging, and coaching the team to achieve top performance and productivity. Identifying high potential staff and supporting employee development plans. Managing succession plans and addressing future staffing issues in a proactive manner.
  • Motivating and managing field force and sales manager through sales force automation system including appropriate KPIs and sales incentive plan.
Drive Operational Excellence
  • Closely monitoring budgets and expenditure to ensure resources are kept in line with commitments. Hold accountability for allocated Brand P&L in terms of brand sales and financial planning (Financial Plan, Focus/Update, Long Range Plan).
  • Preparing and participating in the financial planning process.
  • Develop and coach talent and build succession plans to ensure continuous high performance and engaged talent pipeline in Sales and Marketing.
Education/Experience Required, Essential Skills & Abilities:
  • University graduate preferably in science or business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Relevant experience with proven track record of success in a marketing and sales leadership position within biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Ability to develop business vision, translate into strategies and actionable, realistic execution actions plus knowledge of territory and relationships with key stakeholders already established
  • Operates and leads effectively in a matrix structure, especially ability to work through people, irrespective of reporting relationships. Must be able to influence upwards
  • Excellent knowledge of strategic and tactical marketing and sales principles and techniques
  • Passionate about innovation and creativity and able to challenge status quo
  • Proven ability to operate under ambiguous circumstances
  • Ability to optimize resources and deliver return on investment
  • Proven track record of successful leadership, management and coaching of teams and individuals, and in having developed talent and performance managed low performers.
  • Preferred: Experience in Immunology
Travel: Yes, 5 % of the Time
