What the role is:The National Research Foundation (NRF) is a department within the Prime Minister\'s Office, and we set the national direction for research, innovation and enterprise (RIE) by developing policies, plans and strategies; funding strategic initiatives that strengthen our scientific and technological capabilities, grow our RIE talent base, and achieve economic and national impact; and fostering RIE collaboration in Singapore and internationally.What you will be working on:Responsibilities The key function of the CIEO is to act as a central programme office to manage the following funds and schemes: \xe2\x80\xa2 Central Gap Fund - national-level open and competitive grants to bridge the gap between research and industry. Gap funds aim to support the translation of research outcomes into products, services and new businesses that are processes and/or services that attract private sector investors or corporates to license and commercialise the technology for economic impact. \xe2\x80\xa2 Central Core Fund - national-level platforms that build and develop Innovation and Enterprise (I&E) capabilities in our ecosystem. It also supports ecosystem events in technology and innovation. The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation, management, operations and deliverables of projects and activities of the above funding schemes. In addition, the officer will play an ecosystem development role by engaging with I&E ecosystem partners in shaping and developing initiatives that will help accelerate tech translation and strengthen I&E capabilities at an ecosystem-level. This includes connecting deep tech venture capitalists and venture builders with promising research teams to build venture-backable spinoffs from our strong base of IP.What we are looking for:Requirements \xe2\x80\xa2 Tertiary qualification in science, engineering or business; \xe2\x80\xa2 At least 2 years of work experience in managing science and engineering grants and schemes involving public research performers and industry; \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in dealing with institutes of higher learning and research institutes, companies and investors; \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong administrative, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; and \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to work independently, as well as effectively in teams The actual appointment would depend on the relevant experience you hold.About National Research Foundation:The National Research Foundation (NRF) was set up on 1 January 2006 as a department under the Prime Minister\'s Office. It was set up to perform the following: a) To provide secretariat support to the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council (RIEC), chaired by the Prime Minister; b) To coordinate the research of different agencies within the larger national framework in order to provide a coherent strategic overview and direction; c) To develop policies and plans to implement the five strategic thrusts for the national R&D agenda; and d) To implement national research, innovation and enterprise strategies approved by the RIEC, and to allocate funding to programmes that meet NRF\'s strategic objectives.
