What the role is
HTX is looking for a suitable candidate with passion for fire safety and be part of the team to regulate fire safety standards in buildings. This is done through the processing of Temporary Fire Permit/Fire Safety Certificate applications, auditing of building/fire protection/mechanical ventilation plans and carrying out of site inspection to ensure the completed buildings are in compliance of the requirements stipulated in the Fire Code and relevant Codes of Practices. The job-holder will report to the Senior Assistant Director of the Industrial & Institution Design Branch in SCDF.
What you will be working on
a. To be responsible in regulating fire safety standards in buildings in accordance with the provisions of the Fire Safety Act and Regulations b. To audit plans submitted by Qualified Persons. c. To process Temporary Fire Permit (TFP)/ Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) applications within time frame. d. To conduct site inspection for the completed fire safety works for the issuance of TFP/FSC. e. To investigate complaints and feedback cases. f. To answer queries from the Qualifed Persons and public regarding fire safety provisions in buildings.
What we are looking for
• Diploma in Architectural or Engineering (mechanical engineering discipline preferred). • At least 5 years experience working in the building industry. Experience with design, testing or inspection of fire safety system preferred. • Knowledge of local Fire Code and other relevant Codes of Practices. • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team • To possess good verbal, written and interpersonal skills All new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
