JOB SUMMARY

The HR Manager directs and works with Human Resources and Operations employees to carry out the daily activities of the Human Resource Office including oversight of recruitment, total compensation, training and development, association/labor relations, and performance management. Additionally, the HR Manager focuses on delivering HR services that meet or exceed the needs of employees and enable business success; as well as ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and operating procedures.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the human resources, management operations, or related professional area.
OR
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years experience in the human resources, management operations, or related professional area.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Main roles
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources in the creation and review of strategic goals and objectives for the Hotel.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to managers regarding HR matters such as recruitment and disciplinary issues.
Recruitment & Exit Process (end-to-end)
  • Support line managers in hiring and exit processes.
  • Establish and maintains network with external recruitment sources and local organizations (e.g. Hotel Association and peers) to source candidates for current or future openings.
  • Perform quality control on candidate identification/selection.
  • Manage the Hotel's recruitment and talent acquisition process from selection, appointment, confirmation and promotion, paying particular attention to advertising, work pass, reference checks and administration of all new hires.
Host Relations
  • Drive hosts engagement through effective and dynamic host programs and initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining effective host communication channels in the property.
  • Utilize an "open door" policy to acknowledge host problems or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensure host issues are referred to the respective manager for resolution or escalated to the Director of Human Resources.
  • Provide advices to managers on conflict resolution and effective follow up actions or escalate to the Director of Human Resources if needed.
  • Partner with Loss Prevention to conduct host accident investigations, as necessary.
  • Review progressive discipline documentation for accuracy and consistency, and checks for supportive documentation and is accountable for determining appropriate action.
Compliance
  • Ensure HR practices and policies are in compliance with the Collective Agreement, Employment Act, Retirement and Re-employment Act, Fair Employment Practices and other local legislation where applicable.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources in the negotiation of Collective Agreement with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Review, update and create HR Policy and Procedures whenever necessary.
  • Ensure host records are properly maintained and secured for the required length of time.
  • Prepare surveys and reports as required by Marriot International, authorities and associations (e.g. Ministry of Manpower, Singapore Tourism Board, and Singapore Hotel Association).
Others
  • Participate in project teams (e.g. workplace safety, TakeCare).
  • Provide coaching and advice to junior team members.
  • Ensure professional personal appearance and in compliance with company grooming standards.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by the Management.
