The Opportunity The Human Resources Manager role is assigned to a specific region for regional HR support. This position will be part of a global HR team in a high growth market, and will be responsible for establishing a strong regional HR operation to further assist the business in driving forward. You will work closely locally, regionally and globally on various HR implementations and mirror other successful business practices to assist your region’s operational success. As HR Manager, you will be a key advisor for strategic business initiatives (i.e. org structure, develop competencies, talent initiatives – retention or finding or developing new talent). Each year the HR Manager, will establish key objectives and create HR programs or initiatives to achieve those goals. This may require the partnership with other business leaders, the Global HR Team, and the Talent Acquisition team. You would also be highly involved in multiple ongoing HR improvement projects to help streamline the business operations. You will also manage, develop and mentor junior HR team members. The Job:

  • Develop appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources for your region which align with any global policies or programs. This includes, but is not limited to programs and practices for employee relations, employee complaints, supporting and driving talent management, initiatives for an assigned business unit, and education and career development
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and country legal standards.
  • Execute change management initiatives for a business unit or a region.
  • Develop project plans and budgets quantifying HR value added contributions.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition team and business leaders to understand priorities and needs to build the talent strategy and recruitment needs for your region.
  • Work closely to ensure alignment within the existing employee programs e.g. on-boarding, performance management etc. are effectively conducted within your region of accountability.
  • Provide immediate fixes to acute emergencies (retention, culture change, poor performance etc.) within the region, while ensuring a longer-term solution is raised and implemented.
  • Fluent Japanese and Business level English ability
What skills you bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree. MBA or Master’s equivalent preferred; AND
  • Minimum of five (5) years of broad-based HR experience required in Human Resources Management that should include generalist duties, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, and training/development.
  • Experience managing 1-2 direct reports.
  • Thorough knowledge of Japan and other APAC countries' employment legislation is required.
  • Knowledge of USA employment legislation preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented environment.
  • Effective change management skills and solid experience managing large change in an organization or business unit.
  • Experience working across an organization in a consultative manner to establish plans with leaders, achieve results, and has ideally worked in a large organization requiring the ability to establish credibility with the senior leadership team.
