JOB DESCRIPTION
We are inviting applications for a Research Officer position in Dr Hwei-Ee Tan's lab at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology/ Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (Novena). The Tan lab studies the biological basis of "gut-feelings", how bacteria in the gut signals to the host to influence physiology and behaviour. Using mice as a mammalian model, the lab investigates how diet modulates the gut microbiome, health and behaviours. His lab is also studying the brain-gut axis, to uncover host-microbe interactions in chronic stress and major depressive disorders. The successful candidate must be exceptionally responsible and detail-oriented, highly motivated, flexible with working hours, and will conduct molecular biology and histology procedures, conduct rodent behavioural assays, analyse data, assist with lab maintenance and help with general lab duties. Prior experience in programming, animal research, dissection/ histology or wet-lab biology research is preferred, but not a requirement; however, the candidate must be a fast learner.
