WHAT YOU'LL DO


Staffing is a business-critical function in this management consulting firm in SEA. The Staffing Manager owns the overall People Deployment Strategy and Capacity Management across the six offices in Southeast Asia.
  • Provide leadership and oversee a team of ~5-6 individuals. This includes (but not limited to) guiding the team on a day-to-day basis, problem-solving any critical escalations from the team and supporting the team’s developmental journey in the firm
  • Directly manage staffing for senior consulting team. This includes (but not limited to) identifying the best fit for a project, aligning client needs, skills/capabilities required, and individual preferences as needed.
  • Be thought partners to case leadership and consulting teams to balance the needs of our people, clients, and the business, with preferences noted and honoured wherever possible to achieve optimum deployment of consultants to projects
  • Support case leadership on staffing priorities in SEA (e.g., for campaign and investment clients). This includes engaging with case leadership on upcoming staffing opportunities, business development requirements and investments
  • Provide awareness of leads, proposals, cases, and firm priorities for the purpose of making effective staffing decisions, optimizing billability, and balancing supply and demand to SEA leadership through regular sharing of reports and dashboards
  • Develop staffing-specific initiatives and be responsible for successful implementation of the initiatives across SEA

  • Directly manage staffing for senior consulting team and oversee staffing for all consulting teams by working closely within the Staffing team to create and decide on staffing options: e.g.,
    • Identify the best fit for a project based on client needs, specific skill sets required, topic expertise, and prior client experience, making complex trade‐offs as appropriate
    • Identify the best-case mix based on team composition, staff development needs, location preferences, and availability
    • Identify resources for business development and proposal support
    • Managing allocation of unstaffed resources
    • Resolve staffing‐related conflicts, escalating to Staffing Partner when necessary
    • Ensures good knowledge of individual consultant profiles, development needs and preferences
    • Communicate staffing process, decisions and rationale with case leadership and consulting team, from initial planning through to team confirmation emails
  • Broadly communicate and facilitate staffing forums with consulting team to bring awareness on staffing process and policies
  • Conduct analysis, plan and communicate reports/updates as required to SEA leadership, e.g.,
    • Provide relevant reports on the business situation and capacity utilization (e.g., availability of consulting staff, project pipeline)
    • Share available case and proposal opportunities with staff
    • Ensure Staffing system is maintained and oversee accurate updates
  • Approve non‐partner consulting team vacations, taking into consideration business seasonality and overall firm capacity needs
  • Assume role of IP Guardian to monitor and act accordingly if there is abnormal level of KM (internal site) downloads by staff not supported by case needs
  • Work with other key functions:
    • Career Development Committees: Discuss performance feedback with CD Advisors to better understand development areas and identify staffing solutions to address feedback
    • Career Services/ HR: Align case end‐dates for staff who are transitioning
    • Finance: Ensure consistency in staff deployment versus case budgets
  • Point of contact for Asia Pacific (AP) and global counterparts to assist with international staffing and mobility requests
  • Attend regional staffing calls with AP colleagues, and contributing to calls with other regions
  • Lead continuous improvement in staffing operating model, process and policies

  • Having strong written and verbal communication skills. You need to effectively tailor your communications to specific stakeholders as we work across all levels in the firm
  • Understanding the big picture, focusing on activities that will bring in the biggest impact in realizing our commercial priorities. This requires the ability to bridge between day-to-day pressing needs in our go-to-market strategy and the preferences of individual stakeholders
  • Having strong organizational skill with the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize them, and carry them out independently. The role will require you to be proactive to achieve success
  • Leveraging data for decision making and bringing insights to SEA leadership on staffing-related matters
  • Being pragmatic and focused on impact. You will need to listen, negotiate, and flex where needed while also having the stamina and strength to stand your ground on what can be reasonably accomplished


YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)


  • Strong understanding of the strategy management consulting business
  • Experience playing a key role in a staffing/resource management function in other strategy management consulting firm

SEA Leadership, Consulting team (at all levels), Staffing team, local and regional People team to run business-as-usual (BAU) as well as to develop and implement Staffing initiatives across the six offices in SEA
