Senior Manager/Deputy Director of Resources

This is a mid-senior role that requires a healthy mix of both operational intuit as well as strategic direction on resource management. Our research institution combines the best of research in human potential, so as to bring out the best of individuals and societies through improvements in health, education and lifestyles across the life course.

Responsibilities

  • Operational management of the institute?s corporate functions that support and complement the research work
  • This includes broad categories of Finance, Communications, Facility Management, HR and Reporting.
  • Oversees ground staff, and comfortable with matrix reporting, leading continuous change and progress
  • Work in tandem with the evolving needs of higher management, providing insight for appropriate decision making, and involved in the design and implementation of solutions
  • Works with and through others across the organization and is responsible for ensuring that the research priorities of the institution are well served and enabled.
  • Designs and develops processes and policies that serve to integrate and improve the quality of operations and activities
Requirements

  • A people manager, empathizing with needs and placing the corporate support in service of the research
  • An eye for detail and oversight at once, in order to provide alignment and understanding across different corporate functions
  • A commitment to the well-being, safety and progress of the staff, through quality and excellence
  • A demonstrated and sustained level of impact with managing diverse teams, and bringing forth growth through people
  • An incrementally positive relationship with budgetary management and resource control
  • An ability to build consensus and commitment both directly and indirectly, in order to drive aligned decisions
  • A thoughtful and reflective individual who is able to lead and bring others alongside
Qualifications

  • 5 ? 10 years in a managerial role, experience in research, academia or healthcare is welcomed, but not a requirement.
  • Our ideal candidate has a broad range of skillsets, and is an active listener and strong communicator, and has demonstrated strengths in fiscal management
